Pineapple Kesari recipe | Pineapple Sheera | Pineapple Halwa

If you have got some leftover pineapple then this Pineapple Kesari is a simple and easy dessert to make. You only need a few ingredients and makes a quick dessert on a busy day. Pineapple kesari is also referred as Pineapple Rava Kesari, Pineapple Sheera , Pineapple Halwa, suji halwa etc. This is a popular dish in South India and they serve this in the buffets as one of the desserts.

You can cut pineapples into big chunks or small chopped pieces, I like to cut them small, this way there is more flavor imparted into the dish. You can also use canned pineapple for this and also use juice from the can to sweeten the dish.

Some use milk to make this Pineapple Kesari but I don’t use because the sourness in pineapple could curdle the milk. I just used few tablespoons of ghee to make this pineapple sheera healthy and light but you can definitely add extra for more richness.

For sugar you can definitely substitute artificial sweeteners like erythritol, xylitol etc. I will not recommend stevia as it has heavy aftertaste and bitterness, totally kills the taste of the dish.

This simple dish makes a great dessert for a potluck or puja. Serve this hot as it is or serve them with puri’s. I didn’t add any raisins in the recipe but you can definitely add them if you like it.

You can use food color or Saffron to color this dessert for more aesthetic appearance but I didn’t add any. Also you can add pineapple essence for more kick and strong pineapple flavor.
