Oats Tomato Soup in Instant Pot – Healthy and Tasty
Oats Tomato Soup in Instant Pot is a easy healthy and tasty soup that you can make under 30 mins in your Instant Pot. The healthy factor is that there is no heavy cream used in this soup and also no corn flour, isn’t that awesome? Even with out heavy cream or corn flour this soup is thick and creamy..!!
You can use Instant quick oats or steel cut oats. If using steel cut oats cooking time has to be modified as needed(usually cooking time increases). Oats are rich in fiber, protein and healthy nutrients in addition to these it gives nice thickness and creaminess to the soup. No one can ever guess that there is healthy oats in this delicious soup 🙂Â
This Oats Tomato Soup can also be done on stove top, just follow the same instructions below(for pressure cooking step, just cover and cook till oats+ tomato gets softened). Having a hand blender helps and saves a lot of time for making soups/puree in Instant pot. This is the Hand blender I have and I swear by it.!Â
Oats Tomato Soup is a perfect way to enjoy a rainy or cold weather, I like to eat it along with some toasted garlic bread .. even croutons also make a yummy choice.Â

Oats Tomato Soup
- 5 chopped Tomatoes (( I used Vine))
- 1 cup Oats ((quick))
- 1 to 2 tbsp Butter or olive oil
- 5 Garlic cloves
- 1/2 Small onion (roughly chopped)
- 1 small Carrot (roughly chopped)
- 3 cups vegetable broth ((Instead of broth I used 1tbsp Better than Bouillon paste + 3 cups of water))
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
- Red chili powder (for color) ((optional))
-
Put instant pot on saute mode high and when hot add the butter/oil
-
Now add garlic and onion to fry, saute well till onions edges turn golden.
-
Now add carrots and oats and fry for a minute.
-
You can skip adding oats now and add powdered oats later once the soup is done.
-
Add in the tomatoes and mix well. Fry for 3 mins.
-
Now add in the broth, salt. Mix well.
-
Put the lid and vent to sealing position. Do manual low pressure 2 mins.
-
Do Natural pressure release.
-
Blend the oats tomato mixture into smooth puree. I used a hand blender.
-
If you didn’t add whole oats before, now you can go ahead and add in roasted and powdered oat flour to the tomato soup. Put on saute mode for 3 to 4 mins.
-
Now add red chili powder for color and black pepper powder to taste.
-
If desired adjust the consistency of soup.
-
Serve hot.!
- Cut the carrots into small pieces so that they cook faster.Â
- I got so many comments saying that oats are getting stuck to the pot, this sometimes may happen as oats are naturally sticky when they get cooked, that is the reason we are cooking it on low pressure. But to avoid this issue you can add roasted oats powder at the end instead of cooking it along with the tomatoes.Â
